About

Sylvain Cachard is a French engineer and mountain runner born approximately in 1999 who is a triple French national champion in mountain running (2021, 2022, 2024) and European Mountain Running Champion (2022, El Paso, Canary Islands). Trained initially in cross-country running before specialising in mountain running, he developed into one of France’s most powerful uphill athletes with an exceptional capacity for sustained vertical effort. In 2024 he set the French national record at Sierre-Zinal — the legendary 31km Swiss mountain race — in 2:32:45, improving his own previous record by over 90 seconds, and won the Skyrhune race and the VO2 Trail at the Festival des Templiers. His 2024 season also included his first ultra-trail start at OCC-UTMB (57km), where he finished 17th — a disciplined debut that signals clear long-course potential. A full-time professional runner since January 2025, Cachard represents France’s next generation of mountain runners who may bridge the gap between the vertical and ultra disciplines.
