About
Tim Englund is an American ultrarunner from Ellensburg, Washington, and one of the Pacific Northwest's most accomplished 100-mile competitors. An academic at Central Washington University, he came to ultra running through his department's noon running group and progressed quickly to competitive racing. He won the Pacific Rim Ultra-Marathon in Longview four consecutive years and in 1996 completed the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning — four 100-mile races (Western States 100, Vermont 100, Leadville Trail 100, and Wasatch Front 100) in a single summer — becoming the 180th person to achieve the feat in the event's 20-year history. Known for his ability to hold pace deep in a race — described by running colleagues as someone who "slows less than most" — Englund accumulated 49 ultramarathon finishes across his career, including multiple course records at Pacific Northwest events.
