About

Tomáš Fárník is a Czech trail runner who was introduced to running by his father in autumn 2015 — the two completing a cross-country half-marathon together — in an experience that planted the seed of a long-term shared goal: to one day run the UTMB in Chamonix. He built his career methodically from that starting point, developing into a specialist on longer mountain courses of 40 kilometres and above, favouring races where, as he has described, he can take in the terrain around him rather than racing through it. His résumé includes a podium at the DoloMyths Sellaronda Ultratrail 60km in the Dolomites, strong results at Skyrunning events across the Alps, and a ninth-place finish at the 2023 Trail World Championships before competing again at the 2025 edition in Canfranc, Spain. In July 2025 he won the Eiger Ultra Trail by UTMB E101 in 7:13, leading from the second half of the race to become the first Czech runner to win a UTMB World Series event — a result that moved him significantly closer to the original goal he set with his father a decade earlier. Holding a UTMB Index of 840, Fárník is one of Central Europe's most quietly determined performers on the international mountain ultra circuit.
