About

Touda Didi is a Berber Moroccan ultrarunner and the only Moroccan ever to win the Marathon des Sables, the legendary six-day, 250km self-supported race across the Sahara — a feat she achieved not once but twice, in 2008 and 2009. Before turning to the desert's most famous race, she had already won shorter events including the Zagora Marathon, and it was on the advice of Marathon des Sables legends Mohamad and Lahcen Ahansal that she first entered the race, winning her debut edition in a total time of 28 hours, 38 minutes and 11 seconds. Beyond competing, Didi has worked to expand access to athletics for girls and young women in Morocco and has been involved with the Solidarité Marathon des Sables association, which promotes the sport among Moroccan youth.
