About
Trueheart Brown is an American ultrarunner and fire management officer with the Flagstaff Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest, originally from Manchester, Vermont, who moved to Flagstaff in 2001 to attend Northern Arizona University and settled there with his wife and two children. He won the men's race at the 2022 Black Canyon 100K, earning a Golden Ticket to the Western States 100 in what would have been his 100-mile debut — but an active wildfire season consumed his preparation and professional commitments, and he ultimately surrendered the entry. He has described wanting to race UTMB in Europe one day while taking a realistic approach that respects the demands of fire management work. His story — of winning a Golden Ticket only for wildfires to prevent him from using it — is one of the most human in American ultrarunning.
