About
Alyson Venti (now Aly Allen) is an American road ultrarunner from Newton, Massachusetts, who began racing ultras in 2011 while living in Miami, Florida and working as an oceanography graduate student. Starting from Division III collegiate athletics, she progressed rapidly through the road ultra ranks, winning the Keys 100 in 2012 (first woman) and again in 2014 outright, and then claiming the most prestigious road ultra crown available to an American: the Badwater 135 in Death Valley, which she won in 2014 (first woman, 8th overall, 28:37:00) and defended in 2016. She was a member of the USA 24-Hour National Team Champions at the 2015 IAU World Championships in Turin, Italy, where she contributed to the team title. A Peace Corps alumna (Fiji) and South Africa national park intern who also held a post-doctorate in oceanography, she married meteorologist Teddy Allen and relocated to Barbados after her 2016 Badwater win, where she now teaches at a local university and raises three children, describing her post-2016 running life as fun runs and babies.
