Andrei Derksen is a Russian ultrarunner, born December 20, 1964, who was one of the dominant desert and multi-day stage racers of the 1990s. He won the Marathon des Sables — the roughly 250km multi-stage race across the Sahara — three consecutive times, from 1994 through 1996. He also competed in extreme multi-day stage events such as the 2001 Trans Australia 'Race of Fire,' a 63-day, 4,274.5km crossing of the continent, in which he finished 2nd overall and won 20 of the 63 individual stages with a cumulative time of 323:24:47. His results are recorded across 17 events and nearly 8,000km in the DUV international ultramarathon statistics database.
