About
Angelika Castaneda is an American ultra-endurance athlete from San Diego, California, recognized as one of the pioneering finishers of the Death Valley Cup — the distinction earned by completing both the Badwater 135 ultramarathon run and the Furnace Creek 508 ultra-distance bicycle race in the same calendar year. In 1999, at age 56, she set the original women's course record for the combined Death Valley Cup event, a mark that stood for years before eventually being broken by Russia's Irina Reutovich. She competed regularly on the Badwater and Furnace Creek 508 ultra-endurance circuit through the late 1990s and 2000s.
