Anne Langstaff is an American ultrarunner and personal trainer from El Cajon, California, who won the women's division of the 2001 Badwater Ultramarathon in her first attempt at the 135-mile crossing from Death Valley to Mount Whitney. A Badwater rookie who trained at the race organizers' Badwater Training Clinics, she arrived with an already-deep résumé of nine 50k victories, three 50-mile wins, and a win at the 1999 Vermont 100. She ran a disciplined, even-paced race — reaching the 17-mile mark in 3:10 and the 71-mile checkpoint in 18:13 — and finished 11th overall in 40:13:40 at age 40, more than four hours ahead of the next woman.
