About
Bethany Lewis is an American ultrarunner and one of the sport's most under-the-radar talents, known for picking races based on how scenic and rugged they look rather than for a race calendar strategy. A competitive 800m and mile runner in high school and college who swore off long distances before eventually embracing them, she went on to win The Bear 100 Mile in 2013, the Squaw Peak 50 Mile and Wasatch 100 Mile in 2014, and the Jemez 50 Mile, Fat Dog 120 Mile, and Zane Grey 50 Mile across 2015-2016. In 2011 she set the women's Fastest Known Time for the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim double crossing in 8:15:51, breaking Darcy Africa's previous record, and also held the Trans-Zion FKT. She finished 3rd at the 2016 Hardrock 100, one of the sport's most competitive and technical 100-milers.
