About
Bob Shebest is an American ultrarunner, endurance coach, and middle school science and mathematics teacher from Santa Rosa, California, who ranks among the most accomplished American 100-mile trail competitors of the mid-2010s. A former competitive cyclist and four-time Hawaii Ironman finisher, he transitioned fully to trail ultras in 2013 and within two years had stacked some of the sport's most coveted results: wins at the San Diego 100 (with a course record), the Tahoe Rim Trail 100 twice, and the Pine to Palm 100, as well as a runner-up at the Run Rabbit Run 100. In 2015 he was ranked number 10 in the US UltraRunner of the Year standings, one of only a handful of non-professional athletes to crack that list. A Salomon, Buff, GU, and Squirrel's Nut Butter sponsored athlete, Shebest is also known for pacing ultra athlete Adam Kimble on a successful Tahoe Rim Trail FKT attempt. He teaches science and math at Windsor Middle School and runs a coaching practice for endurance athletes alongside his racing career, representing a model of the elite amateur runner who balances serious competition with a full professional life outside sport.
