About
The most important golden ticket race in North American trail running. Starting at China Wall in the Sierra Nevada foothills and finishing in historic downtown Auburn — birthplace of trail running — the 100K follows the final 62 miles of the iconic Western States trail through river canyons, oak forests, and exposed ridgelines. The top three men and women earn a Super Golden Ticket for automatic entry to the Western States Endurance Run. First held in 2014, it joined the UTMB World Series as a Major in 2023, drawing the world's best 100K runners to California each April. The combination of net descent, relentless undulation, heat exposure, and the pressure of a starting-line stake makes The Canyons simultaneously fast and brutally honest.
