About
Caryn Lubetsky (born c. 1972) is an American ultra runner, attorney, law professor, and high school cross-country coach from Miami Shores, Florida, who ran her first marathon at age 40 and remade herself into one of the most distinctive ultra competitors in the southeastern United States. A former competitive swimmer who disliked running in her youth, she decided to run a marathon a week before her 40th birthday to prove to herself she was still in control of her body — and has not stopped since. She has been selected twice to run Badwater 135, one of roughly 100 runners globally invited annually, with fewer than 30 women chosen, placing fourth overall in one of those appearances. She owns back-to-back women's course records at the Keys 100 Ultramarathon — 18:25:10 (2023) and 18:21:13 (2024) — and at age 53 tied for the overall win in 2025. In 2018 she set a Guinness World Record for the most triathlons completed while hauling another person. A longtime legal advocate for HIV/AIDS patients through her nonprofit HELP Inc., she runs competitively to raise money for childhood cancer research through the Childhood Cancer Project.
