About
Christian Meier is a Canadian former professional road cyclist turned elite trail runner, based in Girona, Spain. He built a successful professional cycling career racing the sport's three Grand Tours — Tour de France (2014), Giro d'Italia, and Vuelta a España — with the Orica team, and won the 2008 Canadian Elite Road Cycling Championship. After retiring from professional cycling he discovered trail running through Girona's vibrant outdoor community and developed rapidly into a podium-level competitor at the sport's highest races. In 2023 he won the TDS — Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie, the 150km, 9,315m-of-elevation UTMB event from Courmayeur to Chamonix — in 19:36:35, becoming the first Canadian ever to win a UTMB World Series race. Earlier that year he also won the Trail 100 Andorra by UTMB 50K. A Salomon athlete, he also co-owns La Fabrica, a cyclist- and runner-friendly café in Girona that has become a hub for professional endurance athletes.
