About
Cody Reed is an American trail ultrarunner from Danville, California, who walked onto the cross-country and track teams at Northern Arizona University from 2010 to 2015 — competing in the steeplechase, 5K, and 10K — before finding his true range in ultramarathon racing after graduating. He relocated to Flagstaff, Arizona, where he joined the Coconino Cowboys training collective alongside Jim Walmsley and Tim Freriks, one of the most accomplished groups in American trail running history. He announced himself on the ultra circuit in 2016 by winning his very first race, the Miwok 100K in Marin County, California, then followed that with back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Tarawera Ultramarathon 100K in New Zealand in 2017 and 2018, a seventh-place finish at the 2018 Western States 100 after earning his entry via a golden-ticket at Bandera 100K, and a win at Ultra Trail Cape Town 100K in 2019. A former Under Armour athlete, Reed has also built a running coaching practice in Flagstaff, sharing the mountain knowledge accumulated across years of racing in some of the world's most competitive 100-mile fields.
