David Jones is an American ultrarunner from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, who has served on his local hospital board for more than 25 years and has run seriously alongside his wife for over three decades, logging an estimated 90,000 lifetime miles since taking up ultrarunning in the early 1980s. He set the American age-group record for the fastest road 100-mile by a runner over 50 in 2003, then broke his own age-group record at age 65, running 17:34:29 at the Tunnel Hill 100 in November 2016 — good for 7th place overall across all ages. He has finished the Badwater 135 eight times, including a return to the race after 2015 hip resurfacing surgery.
