Denise Jones

Denise Jones is an American ultrarunner and Badwater Ultramarathon institution who, with husband Ben Jones, was inducted into the Badwater Hall of Fame in 2007 after 17 years on the race course as athlete, camp host, crew chief, and race ambassador. She finished the Badwater 135 three times herself — in 1994 (55:32:15), 1996 (52:04, halted by a storm short of the Mt. Whitney Portal finish), and 1999 (45:54) — while also crewing 15 total efforts, including three double crossings, for athletes such as Lisa Smith-Batchen-Batchen and Shannon Farar-Griefer. With Ben she co-ran heat-training clinics that achieved roughly an 85% success rate among attendees and co-authored the 2006 book "Death Valley Ultras: The Complete Crewing Guide."
