About

Domenico Giosi is an Italian ultrarunner who works for the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), where he cares for the horses of the national modern pentathlon team. A former footballer, he took up trail running in 2017 and quickly moved into serious mountain ultra competition. At the Lavaredo Ultra Trail in the Dolomites he finished 30th overall and 1st in his age category in 15 hours 35 minutes, one of the top Italian finishers in the field that year. In June 2021 he won the Ultra Trail Li Foij 100km outright, racing much of the course alongside training partner Roberto Martini, and he has also placed inside the top ten at the Vesuvio Ultramarathon on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Giosi represents the deep amateur-elite tradition of Italian trail running — a competitor who came to the sport relatively late from a completely different athletic background and rose to genuine podium contention within a few seasons.
