About
A 120km loop through the vineyard-draped hills and medieval hilltop villages of Tuscany's Chianti Classico wine country, navigating oak-forested singletrack, cypress-lined driveways, and the terraced slopes above Radda in Chianti. Founded in 2018 and absorbed into the UTMB World Series in 2024, the Ultra Trail Chianti Castles quickly became a marquee event for elite trail runners, with Jim Walmsley, Kilian Jornet, and Courtney Dauwalter among recent competitors. The 5,200m of climbing arrives in relentless short, punchy ascents that punish the legs and reward runners with sweeping panoramas across one of Italy's most beautiful landscapes.
