About
Gabriel Flores is a Texas-born, London-based ultrarunner and career coach who took up running after university desk work expanded his waistline, completing his first marathon in 2001 before discovering ultramarathons in 2013. A specialist in Britain's 100-mile scene, he is a repeat finisher of the Centurion Running 100-milers and completed the 2019 Canalslam — three ultras of 130 to 145 miles run along British canal towpaths within about a month of each other. After a 2016 Spartathlon ballot entry he was unable to use due to personal hardship, he finally lined up for the 246km Athens-to-Sparta classic in 2021 and finished in 35 hours 36 minutes, calling the experience 'pure magic.' Flores favors a conservative 'go slow and steady' pacing philosophy built around consistent fueling, and outside racing he performs as a self-taught musician and has launched a career-coaching app.
