About
Giselher Schneider is a German ultrarunner from Traunstein, Bavaria, who competed in 16 ultramarathons between 1997 and 2007 covering roughly 2,130 km. He discovered 100-mile trail racing in the late-1990s USA and brought the format home to Germany, founding the Chiemgauer 100, which he won outright in 2006 (24:42:00) and organized for years afterward. His other results include winning the inaugural STUNT100 in 2007 (18:48:00), placing 11th at the 2006 Grand Raid de la Réunion (24:44:53), 4th at the 2003 Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (23:37:18), and 19th at the 2001 Spartathlon (31:23:49); he also ran the Western States 100 in 2000 (22:26:31, 29th), and holds a 100km personal best of 10:33:44 from 1999.
