About

Heather Logie is an Australian multi-discipline endurance athlete whose career arc — from road runner to rogaining world champion to inaugural ultramarathon winner to national-level mountain biker — stands as one of the more eclectic and impressive in Australian sport. Based in Canberra, Logie competed for years in rogaining, the long-distance navigation sport combining cross-country running and orienteering, reaching its peak: she won the Rogaining World Championships in 2006 when the event was held in Australia, and earned bronze at the 2008 edition. In 2008, she entered the inaugural running of The North Face 100 — the Blue Mountains event that would eventually become Ultra-Trail Australia by UTMB, now one of the Southern Hemisphere's marquee trail races — and won the first-ever women's title in a time of 12:13:45 among just 130 finishers. Shortly afterward, drawn into the sport by Canberra's cycling community, she transitioned into mountain biking and rapidly reached the national elite level, placing second in the elite women's short course cross-country in early 2010 and earning wide recognition as the standout newcomer of that season. Throughout her athletic career, Logie simultaneously held a full-time position with the Australian government's Department of Environment, before later moving into clean energy research and joining the ANU Battery Storage and Grid Integration Program.
