About
Hillary Allen, known as "Hillygoat," is an American ultrarunner, author, and coach who survived one of the most dramatic accidents in mountain running history. In 2017, while racing the Hamperroken Skyrace in Tromsø, Norway, she fell 150 feet off a ridge, breaking both arms, two vertebrae, several ribs, and bones in her feet. Told she might never run again, she returned four years later to win the 2021 Madeira Island Ultra-Trail (MIUT) in a story that captivated the sport. A former US Skyrunner Series champion, she has since written the memoir Out and Back: A Runner's Story of Survival Against All Odds and continues to coach and compete professionally.
