About
Jean Beaumont is a New Zealand ultrarunner and air traffic controller from Wellington who is quietly one of the most accomplished 100-mile athletes in the Pacific region. A six-time winner of the women's division at the Northburn 100 Miler in Central Otago — one of New Zealand's most demanding and celebrated 100-mile races, with wins across multiple decades — she is also a former winner of the Centurion South Downs Way 100 in the UK (2013) and has competed at UTMB in Chamonix. Her racing résumé extends to Patagonia, where she has won multi-day mountain ultras, and to Washington State, where she completed the 322-kilometre Cascade Crossing. Beaumont represents a rare breed of athlete who sustains competitive excellence across decades, and her racing style is characterised by exceptional efficiency at aid stations and pacing discipline that allows her to outlast younger competitors over mountainous 100-mile courses.
