Jennifer "Jen" Salter is a Welsh ultramarathon runner and event organiser for ULTRArace, based in Derbyshire, who built her reputation on the Marathon des Sables. Racing the six-day Moroccan desert stage race three times, she was the first British woman home in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and in 2010 finished third woman overall while winning the marathon stage outright — at the time the highest placing ever achieved by a British competitor at the event. A Welsh international runner and the 2011 Welsh Ultra Distance Champion, she also won the Anglo Celtic Plate that year, and in June 2011 attempted a Guinness World Record end-to-end crossing of Ireland (the M2M route), covering 345 miles in four and a half days.
