About
Julie Quinn is a New Zealand ultrarunner who established herself as the dominant women's competitor at The North Face 100 Australia — the country's premier 100km mountain ultra through the Blue Mountains National Park of New South Wales — during its formative era. She won the race in 2009 in 12:13:45, setting a new women's course record on the iconic sandstone escarpment course, and returned to win again in 2011 in an even more commanding performance: 11:39:07, smashing the course record by more than 30 minutes. Her back-to-back victories — and course records at both editions — made her the defining women's athlete at the race before the field deepened in subsequent years. She also competed at Bogong to Hotham (64km) in 2019 and has remained active in the Australian trail running circuit across more than a decade, including regular entries at the Six Foot Track Marathon. Now racing in the 50-54 age category, Quinn represents the generation of New Zealand women who helped build the credibility and competitiveness of the Australasian ultra scene.
