Karine Baillet is a French former professional adventure racer, born in 1975, who spent nearly two decades — 1995 to 2012 — competing at the top level of multi-day 'raid multisports' events blending trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, and orienteering. She won the Raid Gauloises in Vietnam in 2002 (1,008km in 6 days, 19 hours, 14 minutes) and the Raid Réunion Aventure in 2003, and finished as vice-champion at the Adventure Racing World Championship in both 2006 (Quebec) and 2007 (Scotland). At the pure trail-ultra end of her career, she closed with a third-place women's finish at the Marathon des Sables in 2012, the multi-stage Saharan race that marked her final elite-level competition. Since retiring she has founded several sporting events, earned a helicopter pilot's licence, and moved into coaching and public speaking.
