About
Luis Alberto Hernando Alzaga is a Spanish trail and sky runner born September 22, 1977, who competed as a biathlete at the 2006 Winter Olympics before becoming one of the most decorated athletes in the history of trail running. His résumé across disciplines is without parallel: three consecutive Trail World Championships titles (2016, 2017, 2018) — making him the only man ever to achieve this feat — two Skyrunning World Championships titles (2014, 2016), the Mountain Running World Championship (2012), and the European Mountain Running Championship (2011). He also won the UTMB CCC in 2019. His international career spans five distinct disciplines, from biathlon to mountain, sky, trail, and ultra, and he remains one of the most complete mountain athletes Spain has ever produced.
