He raced IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 professionally for approximately six years, including winning the Australian Championship in off-road triathlon, before making a significant transition to mountain running. His ultra debut came at the 2021 Ultra-Trail Australia 100km — Australia's flagship ultra-trail event through the Blue Mountains — where he crossed the line in 9:51:32, nearly 13 minutes clear of Vajin Armstrong in second, to take the men's title. The remarkable detail: everything beyond 66km was uncharted territory on race day, as UTA100 was the longest distance he had ever entered.
