About

Mick Thwaites is an Australian multi-day and track ultrarunner who emerged as one of the country's strongest performers at the extreme end of the sport in the mid-2010s. He won his six-day ultra debut outright, covering just under 837km, and in 2017 ran 404.56km at the Canberra 48 Hour — the third-best distance recorded anywhere in the world that year. He represented Australia at the EMU Six Day race in Hungary and on the national 24-hour team, and his performances earned him the Australian Ultra Runners Association's Bryan Smith Award for the year's best male ultrarunning performance under 60 in both 2016 and 2017 — back-to-back wins of one of Australian ultrarunning's most prestigious honors.
