About
Miguel Ángel Heras Hernández is a Spanish ultrarunner born on August 7, 1975 in Béjar, in the province of Salamanca, who evolved from international adventure racing to become one of the most decorated and long-serving trail runners in the history of Spanish mountain running. After beginning his trail career in earnest in 2005 following years competing at the world level in adventure raids, he assembled an extraordinary palmarès spanning nearly two decades of competition. His most significant victories include consecutive Transvulcania wins in 2010 and 2011 on the volcanic ridges of La Palma, the Transgrancanaria in 2010, four titles at the Ultra Pirineu making him the race's all-time most decorated champion, two wins at The North Face Endurance Challenge Championships in San Francisco (2010 and 2012), the Templiers in 2016, the Everest Trail Race in Nepal in 2022, and the Epic Camí de Cavalls 360° in Menorca in 2023. In 2023 he also won the EPIC 125K at Valhöll Argentina by UTMB by 20 minutes. Still racing into his late 40s, Heras is a beloved figure in Spanish ultrarunning for his longevity, experience, and calm measured racing style.
