About
Born on October 15, 1964, in Foncine-le-Haut in the Jura Mountains, Patrick Bohard — nicknamed 'Kirtap' — came to trail running from a cross-country skiing background, entering his first trail race, the Trail du Sancy (70km), in 2008 and finishing third. He is one of the most quietly dominant figures in long-distance mountain ultra racing and the only Frenchman ever to win the Tor des Géants (343km, 28,000m D+), which he accomplished in 2015 in 80:20. He has also won the Swiss Peaks 360, the Grand Raid des Pyrénées, the TDS by UTMB, and the MIUT. At age 56 he set a world record for cumulative elevation gain in 24 hours, accumulating 17,130 metres across repeated hill laps near his home. His daughter Manon Bohard is herself a professional trail runner and nutritionist, making the Bohards trail running's most accomplished family duo.
