About
Simen Holvik is a Norwegian ultrarunner and energy industry consultant from Stavanger who began running in 2015, in his late thirties, after his father survived a heart attack. Holding a master's degree in IT and having worked over two decades in the oil and gas industry, he ran his first ultra that same year and progressed at a remarkable rate. In 2019 he won the Gloucester 24-hour track race with 253 km. In 2021 he set the Fastest Known Time running across Norway — approximately 2,600 km from North Cape to Lindesnes — in 25 days, 15 hours, and 20 minutes. He holds the Norwegian 100-mile national record and became a two-time Badwater 135 champion, winning in 2023 (22:28:08) and 2025 (21:47:45), and podiumed at the 2023 Spartathlon (22:17:23 — the 246 km Athens-to-Sparta race). One of the most accomplished late-starter ultrarunners in the sport's history, Holvik chronicles his running on his website simenholvik.no.
