About
Simone Kayser-Diederich is a Luxembourgish ultra-trail runner born on August 31, 1955, who came to the sport relatively late, beginning serious competition at age 36. She went on to win the Marathon des Sables, the gruelling multi-stage race across the Moroccan Sahara, three times — in 2002, 2004, and 2005 — and added a win at the Grand Raid in 2003. Alongside her husband, she co-founded the Ultra Trail du Mullerthal to showcase Luxembourg's Mullerthal region, known as Luxembourg's Little Switzerland, helping put the small nation on the map of European ultra-trail running. Still active well into her sixties, she has remained a respected figure in the Luxembourgish outdoor community.
