About
Christelle Bard is a French ultra trail runner who came to distance running relatively late and ascended to the sport's highest level with remarkable speed. A longtime mountain enthusiast who spent years hiking in the Alps rather than racing, she took up trail running around 2013 and within four years had placed on the podium at the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc — the sport's most storied and competitive 100-mile race — finishing third in 2017 in 26:39:03. Her progression through the UTMB race family was strikingly consistent: 4th at the 2015 CCC by UTMB, 3rd at the 2016 TDS by UTMB, and then the 2017 UTMB podium in what was only her fourth or fifth year of competitive running. Her trajectory became a recurring reference point in French trail circles — proof of what focused mountain experience and tactical patience can produce when a veteran hiker decides to start racing.
