About

Jolanda Linschooten is a Dutch trail runner, author, adventurer, and photographer born April 25, 1966, in Leiden, who left a career in special education in 2000 to pursue wilderness expeditions and ultra-distance racing full-time. She became Dutch champion at the 100km road distance in 2011 and in the same year won the UTMB TDS (Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie, approximately 110km with 7,000m of climbing), crossing the line first among women in 20:57 at one of the most prestigious events on the UTMB week's calendar. The first Dutch woman to have crossed the Greenland ice sheet, she has also completed a 2,000km solo run across England, Wales, and Scotland, raced the Marathon des Sables, and won the Ardennes Mega Trail. Linschooten is the author of Ultra: A Year of Trail Running and runs a photography and wilderness adventure tour company through her personal website, where she continues to document a life built entirely around mountains and distance.
