About
Marcin Świerc is a Polish trail runner from Kraków who began running at 16 in 2002 and has spent the two decades since assembling one of Poland's most decorated mountain ultra records, across distances from skyrunning to multi-day events. He first came to international attention by becoming the first Pole to complete the Skyrunning Ultra World Cup, finishing fourth overall across the 2015 series. His breakthrough at the UTMB week came in 2017, where he placed second in the CCC (101km) in 10:42. The following year he delivered his defining performance: catching Russia's Dmitry Mityaev with just two kilometres remaining of the TDS (121km, 7,300m D+) to win in 13:24 — becoming the first Polish runner ever to take a UTMB week race. He has also won the Ultra-Trail Australia 100km in 9:31:15 and represented Poland at the 2016 Trail World Championships in Podbrdo, Slovenia, where his 7th-place finish stands as his proudest individual result. A Columbia Montrail-sponsored athlete and author of the Polish training guide Time for Ultra, Świerc coaches athletes at all levels and has become one of the most recognisable figures in Central European trail running.
