About
Born on November 2, 1976, in Manresa, near the Montserrat massif in Catalonia, Núria Picas has been connected to the mountains her entire life — as a mountaineer, mountain guide, firefighter, climber, and trail runner. At 22 she suffered a severe lower leg fracture in a climbing accident and was told she would never compete; she defied that prognosis completely. In 2011 she won her first ultra trail race, the Cavalls del Vent, while setting the course record. The following year she became the first Ultra Trail World Tour Champion, and in 2017 — at the age of 40 — she became the only Spanish woman ever to win the UTMB, finishing in 25:46:43. A multiple-time Skyrunner World Series champion, Catalan icon, author, and mother of two, she is one of the most complete and decorated figures in mountain running history.
