Kilian Jornet

Kílian Jornet is a Spanish mountain athlete from the village of Lles de Cerdanya in the Catalan Pyrenees — perched at 2,000m altitude — where he began skiing at 18 months old and summited his first 4,000m peak at seven, and is widely regarded as the greatest trail and mountain runner in history. He has won UTMB Mont-Blanc four times (2008, 2009, 2011, and 2022, setting the course record of 19:49:30 in his 2022 return), Western States 100 once (2011), and Hardrock 100 five times (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2022, the last in a course record 21:36:24) — while also holding speed records on the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc, and Aconcagua. In 2017 he summited Everest twice without supplemental oxygen within five days, a feat without parallel in mountaineering history. He departed a decade-long partnership with Salomon in 2021 to co-found NNormal, his own running shoe and gear brand, and established the Kilian Jornet Foundation to preserve mountain environments. Now in his late thirties, he continues to compete at world-class level.
